AQUA.abib is a spin-off from the UPC university that has developed a unique technology for water treatment. It counts with 3 shareholders and 4 additional employees covering all the technical and business areas. AQUA.abib is now building its first commercial plant working on seawater desalination, with a grant from the EU, and counts with several strategic partners with whom to ensure the posterior commercialisation. AQUA.abib aims to initially release a system that will provide affordable water to small communities living close to the seashore in areas with medium-high solar irradiation, or farms under the same conditions. Also, AQUA.abib will transform the system, due to its complementary outputs, into an integral solution for underdeveloped areas, providing water, agriculture and economical activities where implemented. Our objective is to expand first in the Mediterranean and Middle east, and to the rest of the world and other sectors (industrial waters) on a second stage.
