Calyo pioneers a ground-breaking ‘sound’ vision technology that will enable advanced robots and autonomous systems to perceive the environment in real time - a crucial differentiator in a wide range of markets. Whilst known to perform well in ideal conditions, some high-end sensors, such as liDAR and raDAR, remain very expensive (£‘000 per unit) and have some physical and/or performance limitations (e.g. exhibit limited field-of-view, lack 3D sensing capability, and struggle in harsh environmental conditions). Calyo has developed software and hardware (using arrays of low-cost MEMS microphones and repurposed ultrasonic speakers) that can create ‘live’ 3D environmental maps without the loss of data by varying ambient conditions.
