Solutions to oil-based plastic waste - The traditional “solutions” such as landfill and oceanfill are part of the pollution and not the solution. Besides the negative environmental impact, these lead to the exclusion of materials from the economic cycle. Waste deposition in landfills has become increasingly unattractive due to decreasing available space, low sustainability, and increasing cost. At Poliloop we have created a solution to the plastic waste that currently cannot be recycled and ends up polluting our planet. The idea behind controlled microbial degradation (with 4 bacteria) of plastics is to speed up the biodegradation process to biodegrade the oil-based plastics at the rate of degradation of naturally degradable materials.
