Worldwide, 1.8 M new cases of colorectal cancer (CRC) are diagnosed annually. CRC is the third most common cancer worldwide and fourth-deadliest cancer. CRC can be cured in 90% of cases diagnosed in early stages and precancerous polyps are detected. Colonoscopy is the most effective method for CRC detection and the only method able to remove polyps from the entire colon. However, colonoscopy results in a polyp miss rate of 22% and the risk of developing cancer after a negative colonoscopy of 8%. MiWEndo is developing an accessory medical device to integrate microwave technologies with conventional colonoscopy. Our solution consists of a microwave imaging system that complements traditional colonoscopy and achieves almost 100% of efficacy.
